Custom 17-4PH Stainless Steel Hard Medical Drill Bit Metal Punch
Product Application:
These are high-strength, precision cutting tools designed for demanding surgical and industrial applications where standard tools fail. Their exceptional hardness and wear resistance make them ideal for cutting tough materials.
Orthopedic & Dental Surgery: Drilling into cortical bone, titanium alloy implants, and cobalt-chrome alloys during joint replacement, trauma fixation, and dental implantology procedures.
Biomedical Device Manufacturing: Fabricating and modifying surgical-grade stainless steel, titanium, and high-performance polymer components for implants and instruments.
Aerospace & Precision Engineering: Drilling and enlarging holes in hardened stainless steels, Inconel, and other superalloys for critical components.
Industrial Maintenance & Repair: Used as heavy-duty hole saws and drills for on-site machining of hardened shafts, valves, and equipment frames where disassembly is not possible.
Product Description:
We engineer and manufacture custom hardened 17-4PH stainless steel drills and hole saws for the most challenging cutting tasks. Unlike conventional high-speed steel (HSS) tools, our products are machined from precipitation-hardening 17-4PH (Condition H900 or H1025) stainless steel, achieving a core hardness of 40-45 HRC. This provides superior wear resistance, rigidity, and resistance to chipping when cutting abrasive or work-hardening materials. The tools are fully customizable, allowing optimization of flute geometry, point angles, cutting lips, and chip breakers for specific materials (e.g., bone vs. titanium). For hole saws, we can produce solid one-piece designs or bi-metal configurations with replaceable pilot drills. Every tool undergoes precision grinding and stringent inspection to ensure sharpness, concentricity, and reliable performance in critical applications.
Type 1: Solid 17-4PH with integral ground teeth for maximum rigidity and precision. Type 2: Bi-Metal Body with replaceable HSS or Carbide teeth for cost-effective large diameters.
Diameter Range
Solid: 3 mm to 25 mm. Bi-Metal: 14 mm to 50 mm.
Tooth Design
Variable pitch, raker set, or specialized carbide grit for abrasive composites.
Manufacturing & Precision
Primary Process
CNC Precision Grinding from heat-treated blank.
Dimensional Tolerance
Drill Diameter: h6 tolerance (e.g., ±0.008mm for a 3mm drill). Runout (TIR): < 0.015 mm for surgical drills.
Surface Finish
Cutting edges have a fine ground finish. Bodies can be passivated or electropolished for corrosion resistance.
Performance & Quality
Sterilization
Fully compatible with autoclave (steam), chemical (EtO), and radiation (Gamma) sterilization cycles.
