17-4ph Stainless Steel Sandblasted Thread Three Blade Puncture Needle
Product Description
The 17-4PH Stainless Steel Sandblasted Threaded Three-Cutting-Edge Puncture Needle is a high-performance, multi-functional surgical and industrial instrument engineered for superior durability, precision, and secure anchoring. It combines three critical features: a body made of precipitation-hardened 17-4PH stainless steel for exceptional strength and wear resistance; a uniform sandblasted (matte) surface finish for reduced glare and improved grip/handling; a threaded section (shaft or hub) for stable, mechanical fixation; and a unique three-facet ground tip for clean, low-trauma penetration with minimal deflection. This design is ideal for procedures requiring repeated use, high mechanical load, secure positioning, and precise tissue or material penetration.
Product Processing
Material Preparation & Solution Treatment: A 17-4PH stainless steel rod or tube is cut to size and undergoes solution treatment (Condition A) to achieve a soft, uniform state optimal for machining.
Precision Machining of Threads & Shaft: The blank is machined on a CNC lathe or mill to create the precise threaded section (external or internal) and establish the primary shaft dimensions.
Three-Edge Tip Grinding (Key Process): While still in the soft Condition A state, the distal tip is precision-ground on a CNC grinder to form three symmetrical, sharp cutting edges that converge at a central point, creating a pyramidal/trocar-like tip geometry.
Precipitation Hardening (Aging): The machined component undergoes the precipitation hardening (aging) process (e.g., to Condition H900 or H1025). This heat treatment dramatically increases the tensile strength, hardness, and corrosion resistance of the 17-4PH steel, making the tip extremely wear-resistant and the body very strong.
Sandblasting (Bead Blasting): The entire needle, or specified sections, is sandblasted using fine, controlled media (like aluminum oxide) to create a uniform, non-reflective matte surface texture.
Final Honing, Cleaning & Passivation: The three cutting edges receive a final honing post-hardening to ensure ultimate sharpness. The part is thoroughly cleaned and undergoes passivation to maximize its corrosion resistance.
Inspection & Packaging: Rigorous inspection for thread accuracy, tip symmetry, hardness, and surface finish. Packaged suitably for industrial or medical use, often non-sterile for terminal sterilization by the user.
Product Applications
Orthopedic & Spinal Surgery: As a threaded guide pin or K-wire with a self-drilling, three-edge tip for initial bone penetration and secure temporary fixation during fracture or implant procedures.
Maxillofacial & Dental Implantology: For precise pilot hole creation and guided surgery where the threaded shaft allows for depth control and stable attachment to a driver.
Industrial Precision Drilling/Starting: As a durable, consumable starter drill or center punch for hard materials (plastics, soft metals, composites) where the threaded end allows for quick-change collet or chuck mounting.
Specialized Biopsy Devices: As the inner stylet/coring needle of a bone biopsy system, where the threaded hub attaches to a driver and the three-edge tip cuts a clean bone core.
Veterinary Orthopedics: Similar surgical applications in animal bone procedures.
